How do I get a faded film look?

What does the Fade Filter do?
It compresses tonal range from both ends so shadows turn milky and highlights stay soft, with gentle grain.
How is this different from Matte Filter?
Fade washes the whole range evenly for a bleached look. Matte mainly lifts blacks while keeping midtone color richer.
