What is an animated brush?
Today, a BrushCue brush decides the color of every point along a stroke. An animated brush also takes time as an input, so the stroke can change while your art plays as a video.
In the example above, a sine wave travels along the length of each stroke. It wobbles the edge of the line into a squiggle and pulses the brightness as it moves — all from a small WGSL shader that reads distance_along_path and the current frame time.
What to expect
We are stubbing this out now and will share more as it lands:
- Time-driven brush inputs that animate along with sequences.
- The same custom-shader workflow: write WGSL, preview it live, reuse it across strokes.
- Examples in BrushCue Script showing how to build effects like the one above.
Stay tuned.
